We have always used the A Beka curriculum for our three children. We usually buy the complete grade packages for each new year. Once our two oldest reached ninth grade, we switched them to the accredited A Beka Academy. They watch a 40 miniute lesson via streaming video and then do their homework. They have assignments, quizzes, tests, papers, etc. which we send to A Beka every nine weeks. We also have to administer the timed tests and monitor their work. They get progress reports and semester grades.
While the two oldest (11th and 9th grades) are participating in their lesson, my wife is free to concentrate on our youngest (2nd grade) using the traditional homeschool method. The biggest difference between using the traditional method and the accredited A Beka Academy is that the latter has an academic calendar in which you have to have the material back to A Beka by a certain date for grading. Love it!

I just finished the 12th grade accredited program from A Beka Academy and loved it!!! Mr. Calbert, the English teacher, made literature come to life with his in depth descriptions and vivid details. Mr. McBride (Bible) captivates your attention with such feeling that my entire family was watching it with me. His love of God is very evident in these lessons. The A Beka Academy office staff is exceptional! Whenever we called with a question, they offered friendly advice. We hope A Beka Academy sticks to Christian values and is always available to homeschool families that are seeking a traditional, conservative program.

A Beka Academy was a truly wonderful educational experience for our daughter. She just finished the accredited 12th grade program and loved it.
Mr. Calbert made English Literature come to life, with his vivid, in depth approach of each topic. All of the video teachers were exceptional. Mr. McBride was such an interesting, God loving teacher,(Bible) that I found myself absorbed in his meaningful lessons.
I am happy that A Beka sticks to solid, Christian values and I hope that it is always available to homeschooling families that are seeking a Christian perspective.
