I was homeschooled using Accelerated Christian Education, and, honestly, I loved ACE as a child. I knew that if I did the work diligently, I could go do extra things that I really enjoyed. I took all sorts of extra classes. ACE was for the basics. It worked great for me.
In comparison to many that I saw going to college or work, I was more prepared and ready. I knew how to set goals and meet them. I had the ability to self start and teach myself with a manual. I didn't need one on one from a supervisor to motivate me. Most in our ACE school were like this. Many went on to college. I didn't hear any of them complain about our education with ACE. It was enough. It was much more than we were going to get anywhere else because we were taught character and Bible along with it.
I love home schooling with Accelerated Christian Education. There may be better programs out there in some subjects. I chose to use ACE where I think they are the best - English, Word Building, and Literature. I cannot handle to do all hands on all the time. That is above my ability with all that is on my plate. ACE has been perfect for us!

Product: ACE
Subject: All Subjects
Levels Used: 1-2, 5-9
Dates Used: 2005-2006, 2009-2011
Likes: Easy for children to do on their own. Not teacher intensive. Mastery of concepts. Christian based and colorful characters on pages. Demonstrates good character qualities.
Dislikes: There are several answer keys that correspond with each pace or booklet of instructions. At times, it was tedious going through each key to check paces esp if you have more than one child. The lower years start slowly, but catch up in the middle years. Didn't care for the fill in the blank questions for high school. We needed more reinforcement and comprehension of facts.

I've used ACE Literature, Creative Writing, Science and Social Studies for many years. I don't use the math-too slow. I don't use word building-too everything. All of the other subjects I've used with success. The secret is use the materials one grade level above where your child is and don't use the first grade stuff, all the quirky sound markings are confusing.
