Occupational Therapist Review of Callirobics

by Lynda
(Missouri City Texas)

I've used Callirobics for 4 to 7 year olds for children in preschool and early elementary for the last 10 years.

Likes: The music adds novelty and fun to the exercises which involve writing strokes not the actual letters. This allows for development of the rhythm for writing especially with cursive as well as the development of your little hand muscles which hold the pencil and move during writing. Its a great way to prepare a child for writing: "warm up exercises".

Dislikes: Some children find the exercises tedious if they have trouble staying seated. We just shorten the assignment and concentrate on the music with a rapid beat!

More than Just Doodling!

by Angela D
(NC)

Levels Used: Handwriting Exercises ages 7-14
Dates Used: 2008-present

Likes: My daughter struggled with printing and cursive. When I bought Callirobics I was skeptical. How could doodling help?

Well, it wasn't just doodling. It gave her the strength she needed in her writing hand. Her writing (both cursive and printing) has tremendously improved!

We will be starting our 7 year old on it this year. My 9 year old just asked me if she could do it too!

Dislikes: None!
