We are using the Life Sciences book currently, but I have the Earth & Space book as well.
Likes: We like how the text part is written directly to the children.
We also like that you put these directly into their notebooks and they like to color the little pictures that illustrate these pages. My kids like having their own science notebook, it gives them a sense of ownership and they take pride in it.
My kids like all the labs and activities included. There is a decent amount of scientific vocabulary throughout the book.
The notebook pages that go along with the labs are handy and neat looking. They are good for reluctant writers since they don't have to write everything out, but still get to record their findings and can review it later.
The majority of the materials necessary for the labs are things that are around the house. There is also lists of corresponding books and websites to go along with each unit.
Dislikes: If you are going to use the book for more than one child, there is a lot of photocopying! (The publisher does give permission to photocopy pages for immediate family use.) There are sets of student pages available for purchase separately though.
