We started with AL Abacus (RightStart Math) and needed the next grade level for math. Many people use Saxon and one of my friends gave me the text: translates to 'just the right price.'
Two of my kids are very good at math - they get concepts and can do their work quickly, but they did not like this format. The main problem we had was that Saxon's spiral style was tremendously difficult for my oldest son. And as a mom I couldn't tell if it was him, the book, the subject....
If I were to do it over, I might still try Saxon but move on to something else more quickly, rather going thru the pain.
