Sonlight uses a literature-rich approach to homeschooling in which children in grades preschool through 12 learn by reading and discussing great books. The company seeks to engage and challenge children, and instill within them a love of learning.
Sonlight's core programs are centered around a particular time period in history. Their core curriculum package, or "Core," includes readers, read alouds, history, geography, and Bible. Parents choose other components to complete the program, including math, science, language arts, handwriting, and electives; thus, customizing the perfect program for their child.
Extensive Instructor's Guides for each program contain notes and daily lesson plans that limit planning and preparation time on the part of parents.
