Weaver VOl 1
Unit Studies
While I firmly believe this is the way to home educate, I did not think this curriculum was the right fit for our family. We are finishing up VOl 1 with my 2nd and K children. It was just too much planning for me with a toddler and baby, too. I also had to modify memory verses often and added a song a week.
While we enjoyed our year we will not be using Vol 2 next year.

Weaver Curriculum
Skills Evaluation Book, K- 6
The things I like about the Weaver unit studies is the Skills Evaluation Book. I can use this book to create my own unit studies or just for the topics my boys are wanting to know about. I dislike the fact it takes so much time on the parents part to research the units because if you live in a small town it can be hard to find the information you need.
I mostly use my skills book. Sometimes I will use the volume but I like the skills book to guide me to know what I need to be teaching them in each grade. From this I can build my own lessons and use other topics that may interest my family more so they learn to love learning.

Likes:I used Weaver before I even knew what Unit Studies were! What attracted me was the biblical approach and the fact you use one volume with several ages. There really is a ton of info and ideas packed into each volume. Volume one starts in Genesis. You will need to add Math and Grammar to your day. I highly recommend getting the Day by Day Planner too!
Dislikes: You will spend a lot of time researching at the library unless you are able to buy all the books they recommend.

I loved the idea and believe in it; but it was too time consuming. But, I believe this is how true education should be.
